COVID-19 Food Relief Distribution
We Care | Team Megabuild
The Pupkewitz Foundation pledged N$ 1 million towards the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. An amount of N$ 500 000 was dedicated to food distribution in 14 regions in Namibia. The Foundation Food Relief Distribution campaign includes a three-phased distribution of nutritious food and is set to benefit about 16 000 families across Namibia.
The first food distribution took place on 18 – 22 May 2020 and 3 633 food parcels were handed over to needy families in the Ohangwena, Oshikoto, Omusati Oshana and Kunene regions. During the first phase of the food distribution roll-out about 400-600 families were impacted and 50 per cent of these families are part of the marginalised Ovahimba and San in Namibia. Our Megabuild teams from Ondangwa and Oshakati assisted with packing and handover of the nutritious food parcels.
"There is no greater investment than the people of our nation. Their welfare and promotion is not only the foundation on which the Pupkewitz Foundation bases its ethos and work but it also it is highlighted in Article 95 of the Namibian Constitution."
- Harold Pupkewitz
The second phase of the food distribution took place on 10 - 25 June 2020 in the Otjozondjupa, Omaheke and Hardap regions. In the Otjizondjupa region, 560 food parcels were spread across Tsumkwe, Farm Uitkoms and Ovitoto areas. In the Omahake region, a total of 500 families benefited from the food relief in the Donkerbos and Skoonheid communities. In the Hardap region, a total of 180 families in the Schlip consistuency (Rehoboth Rural) and in Mariental benefited from the food relief.
The third and final phase of the food distribution commenced on 10 July in the Karas and Kavango East region. With the Kavango West, Zambezi and Erongo regions still to follow. Our Megabuild teams from Keetmanshoop, Rundu, Outjo and Katima Mulilo assisted with packing and handover of the nutritious food parcels.
We would like to thank our supplying brands Mitco, Gentech, Makita and Coral Coating for donating proceeds of sales towards the Pupkewitz Foundation COVID-19 Fund. We also thank all our customers that bought a product from our Winter promotion who’s purchase contributed directly to the campaign.
We would also like to thank our teams, Ondangwa, Oshakati, Windhoek Central, Keetmanshoop, Rundu and Katima Mulilo for assisting the Pupkewitz Foundation with the packing and handing over of these food packages. The teams coordinated the distributions, packed parcels, helped with data collection and monitored the distributions.
Another key area of the Pupkewitz Foundation initiative is investing in education through the Pupkewitz Foundation Digital Learning project. This will assist the Government to address the challenges of online learning. The Pupkewitz Foundation will also contribute to the health sector with the construction of the Robert Mugabe Clinic, which was identified to be a prototype isolation unit.
"We are focused on developing the people of Namibia."
